The committee investigating the chaos during the recent ministerial vetting will hold public hearings starting on Wednesday, February 5.

Formed by Speaker Alban Bagbin, the committee is tasked with looking into the violent disruption on January 30, when clashes broke out between the Majority and Minority over the timing of the vetting, leading to the destruction of equipment.

Chaired by Ho West MP Emmanuel Bedzrah, the committee also includes Kwame Anyimadu-Antwi, Gizella Akushika Tetteh-Agbotui, Abena Osei Asare, Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, Vincent Oppong Asamoah, and Bede Anwataazuma Ziedeng. They have 10 days to report their findings and make recommendations.

Speaker Bagbin has made it clear that these hearings are necessary to restore order in Parliament and rebuild public confidence in the legislative process.

The outcome of the investigation could have far-reaching consequences for Ghana’s parliamentary rules and governance.
