Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng, also known as Kwabena Adu Gyamfi, has been taken into custody by the National Investigations Bureau (NIB) as part of an ongoing investigation into claims of multiple identities.

The controversy surrounding Boateng first emerged in 2023 when Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the MP for North Tongu and now Ghana’s Foreign Affairs Minister, alleged that Boateng, the Secretary to the Board of Trustees of the National Cathedral, had been using multiple passports under different names.

In a Facebook post, Ablakwa accused Boateng of employing multiple identities, stating: “From unassailable and irreproachable documents in my possession, Rev. Victor Kusi-Boateng, AKA Kwabena Adu Gyamfi, uses multiple passports and multiple identification cards with different names and different dates of birth as his special modus operandi.”

Further allegations suggested that Boateng’s company, JNS Talent Centre Ltd, had received GH¢2.6 million for the National Cathedral project under the name Kwabena Adu Gyamfi. Ablakwa claimed that documents he had seen confirmed that both identities were linked to the same individual. Despite these allegations, Boateng has continued to serve as a Director on the National Cathedral Board.

In July 2024, the Human Rights Court dismissed an application from Boateng that sought to prevent MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa from making further public statements about his role in the National Cathedral project.

While the exact charges against Boateng remain unclear, sources suggest that the investigation is centred around the allegations of his dual identity.
