Sammy Gyamfi, the National Communications Officer for Ghana’s National Democratic Congress (NDC), has strongly denied allegations that he was seen travelling in a convoy with police escorts in Accra.

In a statement released on January 13, 2025, Gyamfi dismissed the claims, made by former Presidential Staffer Justice Abeeku, as “false and malicious.”

Abeeku had posted on social media, asserting that he had encountered Gyamfi in the convoy. However, Gyamfi refuted the allegation, stating, “I was not part of any convoy, nor have I ever authorised such an arrangement.”

He urged the public to disregard the claims, calling them a deliberate attempt to damage his reputation. Gyamfi also emphasised his commitment to transparency and urged people to verify facts before sharing them.

Below is the full statement by Sammy Gyamfi

SAMMY GYAMFI WRITES:

My attention has been drawn to a social media post by one Justice Abeeku, a former Presidential Staffer under the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia NPP government to the effect that he encountered me in a large convoy of several cars and Police dispatch riders while driving in Accra sometime over the weekend.

I wish to place on record that the said claim is totally false and maliciously contrived to court public disaffection for me. I was nowhere near the said convoy, nor have I ever sanctioned or used any such convoy. As an ordinary citizen of Ghana, I do not go about my business in such convoys.

I therefore entreat the public to dismiss this fabrication with utmost contempt.

Signed
Sammy Gyamfi Esq
(National Communication Officer, NDC)
