Ghanaian dancehall artist Shatta Wale has expressed his immense satisfaction following his performance alongside Jamaican music legend Vybz Kartel, calling the experience a milestone comparable to winning a Grammy.

In an interview with Joy News, Shatta Wale reflected on his performance at Kartel’s “Freedom Concert” in December 2024, a high-profile event marking the Jamaican icon’s return to the stage after 14 years in prison. “The experience has been beautiful; this is a dream come true for Shatta Movement fans,” Shatta Wale said. “Performing with Vybz Kartel is a dream realized.”

Asked about the significance of the performance for his career, Shatta Wale described it as one of his greatest achievements. “Vybz Kartel’s endorsement is equivalent to winning a Grammy for me,” he remarked. “Vybz is a global icon, an artist loved worldwide. To receive his endorsement and perform together is an honor I hold dear.”

Shatta Wale made history as the only Ghanaian artist to perform at the “Freedom Street” concert, held at the National Stadium in Kingston, Jamaica, on December 31, 2024. The event marked a major moment in the dancehall world, celebrating Kartel’s first live performance since his incarceration.
