Shirley Frimpong-Manso’s ‘Two of a Kind’ Premieres in the UK

Renowned Ghanaian film director and producer Shirley Frimpong-Manso has debuted her latest project, Two of a Kind, to critical acclaim at its premiere in the UK on Friday, November 29, 2024. The film was shown in selected cinemas, including the Odeon Imax Cinemas in London, attracting a strong turnout from movie enthusiasts.

The film, which showcases new talent alongside established stars, marks another milestone in Frimpong-Manso’s celebrated career. Her cast includes prominent actors such as Rita Dominic, Gloria Sarfo, and Akrobeto Akwasi Boadi, as well as emerging talents like Chiderah David, Jessica Larny, and Araba Dansowaa.

At the premiere, Frimpong-Manso highlighted the importance of creating high-quality, impactful stories for the screen, stressing the need to continue discovering and nurturing fresh talent within the industry.

In Two of a Kind, Rita Dominic plays a resort owner struggling with her own grief while attempting to salvage the broken marriage of a young couple celebrating their first anniversary at her resort. However, as secrets unfold, their relationship faces new challenges, and the resort owner’s personal battles mirror the couple’s struggles. The film weaves a tale of love, grief, and the complexities of relationships.

The premiere also provided an opportunity for some cast members to reflect on the significance of the film and the growing potential of the African movie industry. They called on producers to continue fostering local talent and pushing for innovation in filmmaking.

Frimpong-Manso, an award-winning director, producer, and writer, is widely recognised for her contributions to the Ghanaian and African film industries. Two of a Kind will have its Ghanaian premiere at Silverbird Cinemas at both West Hills Mall and Accra Mall starting Friday, December 20, 2024, following its successful UK launch.
