The Special Committee set up by Speaker Alban Bagbin to investigate the chaos during the recent ministerial vetting has launched a WhatsApp platform to collect evidence related to the incident.

Speaking at a press briefing on Monday, February 3, 2025, the Committee invited the public, including media personnel, to submit any videos, images, or text evidence from the incident that occurred on January 30, 2025. Information can be sent to the Clerk of the Appointments Committee via the WhatsApp number 0244926911.

“We have created a digital platform where we shall receive multimedia evidence, including videos, audio, and text, to expedite the investigation,” the Committee said in a statement.

The Committee, chaired by Emmanuel Bedzrah, emphasized that it would conduct a thorough investigation into the events, identify all MPs involved, and present its findings to the Speaker of Parliament. A public hearing is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, February 5, 2025. However, the Committee will also accommodate in-camera hearings for individuals wishing to share information confidentially.

Bedzrah further revealed that forensic experts from the Ghana Police Service would be involved in the investigation to ensure a thorough and impartial process.

“The aim is not to witch-hunt any Members of Parliament but to support the rebuilding of our democratic processes,” he stated, urging the public and Parliament members to cooperate in the investigation.
