The Electoral Commission (EC) has rescheduled the Special Voting exercise for the Eastern and Western Regions after recalling ballot papers due to concerns over electoral materials.

Originally set for Monday, December 2, the exercise will now take place on Thursday, December 5, following the discovery of a broken seal on electoral materials in the Eastern Region. Although no issues were reported with the Western Region’s ballots, the same printing press produced ballots for both regions, prompting the EC to recall and reprint the ballots as a precautionary measure.

The decision was announced by EC Chairperson Jean Mensa during an emergency Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting in Accra on Sunday, December 1.

Special voting in the rest of the country will proceed as planned on December 2.

The EC has reassured the public of its commitment to a transparent and credible electoral process and urged all stakeholders to remain patient and cooperative.
