Special Voting is currently being held in 14 of Ghana’s 16 regions ahead of the December 7 general elections, with the exception of the Eastern and Western regions.
The Electoral Commission (EC) confirmed that voting has been postponed in these two regions due to a breach of security seals on ballot papers, prompting a recall and reprinting of the materials.
To ensure the integrity of the process, the EC has rescheduled special voting in the Eastern and Western regions for Thursday, December 5.
The exercise, which is focused on electoral officials, security personnel, and media representatives involved in the election process, is expected to see around 131,478 participants. This group represents just 0.007% of the total registered electorate of 18,741,159.
The Electoral Commission (EC) confirmed that the Special Voting exercise began at 7:00 a.m. and will continue until 5:00 p.m. today, December 2, across polling stations in 14 regions. Eligible voters are required to present valid identification to participate.
