A dramatic standoff unfolded at the Volta Regional Secretariat of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) as the National Executive Committee (NEC) sought to enforce a leadership transition.

For two years, former executives at the Ho Branch 2 of the GPRTU have defied an election result that installed new leaders, refusing to step down. This morning, NEC representatives arrived at the Ho Secretariat to remove the old leadership, sparking a tense altercation with supporters of the former executives.

During the clash, Felix Kpor, the former 2nd Trustee, attempted to block the NEC team from accessing the premises, leading to a chaotic scene. Police intervened to defuse the situation, allowing the parties to proceed to a meeting with the Volta Regional Police Command in an effort to resolve the ongoing impasse.
