The announcement of Stonebwoy as a performer was made on January 3, 2025, but was quickly met with backlash. The hashtag #DropStonebwoy began trending on social media, with several party members voicing their displeasure over his inclusion.

In response to the growing criticism, event organisers issued a statement confirming the removal of the reigning TGMA Artiste of the Year. They attributed the decision to concerns raised by the party’s grassroots and apologised to Stonebwoy and his team.

The concert, which will be held at the Legon Stadium, is intended to celebrate the NDC’s victory in the recent general elections.
