Tanker Explosion on Kasoa–Winneba Highway Sparks Fire, Threatens Nearby Buildings

A fuel tanker overturned and exploded early Tuesday at Potsin Junction along the Kasoa–Winneba Highway in the Central Region, igniting a fire that spread to a nearby residence, according to eyewitness accounts.

The incident occurred in the early morning hours of March 17, when the tanker reportedly tipped onto its side, spilling fuel that subsequently caught fire. Flames rapidly engulfed parts of the surrounding area, heightening concerns among residents about potential casualties and property damage.


Emergency responders have cordoned off nearby buildings and are working to contain the blaze. Authorities have not yet released official information regarding injuries, fatalities, or the full extent of the damage.


Fire service personnel remain on the scene, focusing efforts on suppressing the main fire as investigations into the cause of the accident are expected to follow.
