Tiwa Savage Sparks Backlash After Calling Nigerian Music Industry “Filled with Dangerous Sharks”

Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage has ignited a firestorm online after calling the Nigerian music industry “filled with dangerous sharks.” The comment, made via her Instagram stories while on vacation abroad, has left fans divided, with many questioning the reasons behind her strong words.

The controversy started when Tiwa shared a viral video of herself swimming with sharks during her holiday. In the clip, she expressed that the experience was part of her bucket list, which sparked concern among her followers about her safety.

However, in a follow-up post, Tiwa Savage reassured her fans about the sharks she encountered in the water but shifted the focus to the music industry, stating: “Everyone worried about me swimming with sharks, but the ones in this music industry are way more f**king dangerous.”

Her statement quickly divided opinions online. Some fans criticized the singer, with one user, @sirr_dq, pointing out, “Coming from someone who hasn’t grown any artist in the country…women supporting women my foot.” Another, @gideon_ggg, suggested that the singer was blaming others for her struggles, saying, “Lol, once Dem no hear their gbedu again, Dem go start dey fight imaginary enemy.”

Others questioned the vagueness of her remarks, with @bello234owner stating, “We hear you. 2025, no more sympathy support. If you can’t tell us every detail of the situation, then don’t start at all.” Another user, @opeyemi424203, bluntly commented, “Then leave the industry.”

Tiwa has not elaborated further on her comments, leaving fans to speculate about the pressures and frustrations that led to her outburst.
