Vice President Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang said the government is nearing the launch of its proposed Women’s Development Bank, a flagship initiative aimed at expanding women’s access to financing and business support services.
Speaking Saturday during a visit to the Anlo Traditional Area, Prof.. Opoku-Agyemang said the project had undergone extensive planning to ensure it effectively addresses the financial and operational needs of women entrepreneurs nationwide. She indicated that a formal announcement on the bank’s rollout is expected soon.
The visit included a courtesy call on Torgbui Sri III ahead of the Norvikporhbe Za Festival, where local leaders raised concerns about gaps in education and care for children with special needs.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang said the government would support efforts to strengthen specialized education and healthcare services in the area, including training for teachers and medical personnel. She emphasized the need for better-equipped institutions and skilled staff to assist children with disabilities, noting that improved capacity would be critical to delivering inclusive services.
