The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has launched the registration process for the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for Private Candidates, First Series. The registration window is now open and will close on Wednesday, January 8, 2025.

The announcement was made by John Kapi, Head of Public Affairs at WAEC, during an interview on JoyNews AM Show on December 31, 2024. Mr. Kapi explained that the newly introduced programme, known as WASSCE PC1, offers candidates a quicker opportunity to resit their exams and improve their grades.

Unlike previous systems, where candidates had to wait a full year for the next private exam cycle, this new initiative allows individuals to retake one or two papers in a more timely manner.

The examination is scheduled to take place from January 24 to February 15, 2025. Prospective candidates are advised to visit the official WAEC website for detailed registration instructions and to complete their registration at accredited internet cafés approved by the council.

WAEC has emphasised its commitment to upholding the integrity and credibility of the examination process, ensuring that all candidates write their exams under secure, standardized conditions.

For further inquiries, candidates are encouraged to contact WAEC through its official communication channels.
