The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released the provisional results for 12,452 candidates who participated in the first series of the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for private candidates.

The results can be accessed through the WAEC online portal by entering the candidate’s examination number and required credentials. Of the total candidates, 5,269 were male and 7,998 female, with 738 candidates absent from the exam.

However, WAEC has flagged some irregularities that occurred during both the examination and the subsequent marking process. In a statement released on Thursday, March 28, the Council confirmed that the subject results of 34 candidates and the entire results of 43 candidates have been withheld as investigations into these malpractice cases continue.

In addition, WAEC issued a warning to the public about scammers who may attempt to exploit candidates. These fraudsters often promise to upgrade results for a fee, which they typically request to be paid via mobile money transfers.

WAEC reassured candidates and institutions that the results database is secure and that all results can be verified. The Council advised that any result verification should be done directly through WAEC or via their official website, www.waecgh.org, to avoid falling victim to scams.
