The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for Ablekuma North,Akua Afriyie  has firmly rejected calls for a rerun of the parliamentary election in the constituency, stating that all necessary documentation is in order.

Afriyie’s comments come after a series of delays in the collation of results. A High Court order on January 4, 2025, directed the Electoral Commission (EC) to complete the collation process and announce winners for four outstanding parliamentary races. While results have been declared in three constituencies, the outcome for Ablekuma North remains unresolved.

Collation resumed on January 8, 2025, but was temporarily halted due to incomplete results from three polling stations. The EC had initially scheduled the process to continue on January 17, 2025, but following security concerns raised by the Ghana Police Service, the session was postponed.

The EC later clarified that insufficient security measures led to an invasion of the collation centre by party supporters, prompting the suspension of the process.

In an interview with Channel One Newsroom on Thursday, February 6, Afriyie asserted that the party has all the necessary documents, including both original and scanned pink sheets for the three polling stations in question. “Why the rerun? I don’t agree in any way. We are not going for any rerun. We are going to collate those three polling stations,” she said.
