Wisdom Yayra Koku Deku has been appointed as the Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Identification Authority (NIA), following the retirement of Prof. Kenneth Attafuah in 2024.

Deku, who began his career at NIA in 2008 as a temporary Technical Officer, brings years of experience to his new role. In a statement on social media, he expressed gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for the opportunity to lead the agency, attributing his appointment to “divine providence.”

“I am deeply thankful to President Mahama for recognizing my potential and giving me the opportunity to serve,” Deku wrote. He also acknowledged the support of his colleagues and expressed determination to make a meaningful impact in his new position.

Deku’s appointment signals a new chapter for the NIA as it continues to oversee the implementation of Ghana’s national identification system.
