President John Dramani Mahama is slated to unveil the Adwumawura programme on Monday,April 28, in the  Ashanti Region, a government-backed initiative aimed at spurring youth entrepreneurship and tackling unemployment.

The program, which forms a central pillar of Mahama’s 120-day social contract, is expected to support the creation of at least 10,000 new businesses annually. Officials say the initiative will prioritize young entrepreneurs and provide resources to help launch and scale small and medium-sized enterprises across the country.

The Adwumawura rollout comes amid growing concern over Ghana’s youth unemployment rate, with policymakers under pressure to implement sustainable job creation strategies.

Later this week, President Mahama is also scheduled to launch two complementary initiatives—the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, branded as “Mahama Cares,” and a new National Apprenticeship Programme designed to expand vocational training opportunities.

The administration has framed these moves as part of a broader push to address economic inequality and stimulate long-term growth through workforce development.
