Ghana’s parliamentary Minority is pressing the government to disclose full contractual details tied to its flagship road-building initiative, known as the “Big Push,” intensifying scrutiny over transparency and fiscal discipline in the infrastructure program.

Speaking in Parliament on Tuesday, Kennedy Osei Nyarko, the Ranking Member on the Roads and Transportation Committee, said the program could significantly enhance national connectivity and unlock key economic corridors—provided it is adequately financed and properly executed.

The Minority is calling for the immediate publication of all contracts associated with the initiative, including contractor identities, scopes of work and per-kilometer costs. Such disclosure, Mr. Osei Nyarko said, is critical to restoring public confidence and enabling independent assessment of the program.

“We believe the government must urgently publish the full details of these contracts,” he said. “This will allow Ghanaians to evaluate the policy and strengthen transparency in its execution.”
Lawmakers stressed that their concerns are not politically driven but reflect broader risks to infrastructure development, citing issues such as inconsistent implementation, unclear financing structures and stalled projects.

They argued that sustainable infrastructure growth depends on long-term planning, reliable funding mechanisms and policy continuity across administrations. The group also urged authorities to clarify how projects under the program are financed and to accelerate delayed road works nationwide.

The government has yet to respond publicly to the call for disclosure.
