Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Director of Election Monitoring, has reiterated the party’s commitment to recovering public resources lost to corruption and mismanagement, following John Dramani Mahama’s projected victory in the 2024 presidential election.
Speaking after Mahama was declared the winner, with a margin exceeding one million votes, Dr. Omane Boamah assured Ghanaians that the NDC’s “Operation Recover All” would be a reality and not a hollow promise.
“Ghanaians have spoken decisively,” Dr. Omane Boamah said, describing the result as a clear repudiation of President Akufo-Addo and the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP). “With a government in waiting, we are determined to ensure accountability and to deliver on our promises.”
He further emphasized the NDC’s plans to hold the outgoing government accountable for its actions, citing President Mahama’s post-2016 loss commitment to remaining in Ghana to answer for his administration’s tenure. Dr. Omane Boamah called for the same level of transparency from the outgoing NPP government.
“Operation Recover All will not be a mirage,” he added, stressing the NDC’s focus on providing the unemployed youth, who turned out in large numbers to support Mahama, with better opportunities, dignity, and well-paying jobs through the party’s 24-hour economy plan.
Dr. Omane Boamah also urged the outgoing administration to respect the transition process, cautioning against any last-minute financial commitments or binding contracts that could burden the incoming government. He called on financial institutions to refrain from honouring such obligations.
“The days of recklessness and unaccountability are over. Operation Recover All is not just about recovering looted resources; it’s about restoring hope and trust in leadership,” he said.
He concluded by reaffirming the NDC’s dedication to building a government based on integrity and transparency, promising a peaceful and orderly transition under Mahama’s leadership.
